“From Art to Art: Ekphrastic Poetry”

Saturday, September 28, 2019 • 9:00am-3:00pm

Ekphrastic poetry has its roots in Classical rhetoric. It refers to writing in which another artwork is the “springboard” for a poet’s translation of the work to written language. It is, in essence, art inspired by art.

Gather with like-minded creative writers in a lovely and peaceful space set in the woods of Bernardsville, New Jersey to:

  • Learn about the history of ekphrastic poetry and how poets across the centuries have used this technique in their work.
  • Discover how ekphrastic poetry is more than mere textual description and how it can inspire and enhance your own poetry.
  • Participate in instructive and generative workshop sessions that include personal writing time, group discussion, and feedback. Journey in “conversation” with artists, artwork examples, and other poets.

Fee for full day, various handouts, and nutritious lunch is $125.00.
