Time: Starting Tuesday, January 3, 2012 If you’d like to write spiritual poetry – or if you admire the writings of Rumi, Hafiz, Whitman, and others – please join us for an online writing group that will meet for four Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m EST. WRITING FROM YOUR HEART AND SOUL will help you center yourself before writing sessions… Learn how to tap into your subconscious for creative prompts… and create new spiritual poems. Our intention as a group will be to help you write from a deep place inside you and honor your own definition of the sacred in your writing. Open to writers of all faiths. Who Should Attend: Writers at any level of experience, Spiritual seekers, Poetry lovers What You Will Enjoy:

  • Create a safe and confidential sanctuary for your first draft attempts
  • Develop an intimate group dialogue as we discuss our writing challenges
  • Experience group meditations and other spiritual practices
  • Learn about spiritual writers such as Rumi, Hafiz, Tagore, Jane Hirschfield, W.S. Merwin and more

How We Will Meet:
 The course will take place online as a teleseminar. You will be given a free conference number to dial into. Replay recordings will be posted for your archives. We will also have a special Facebook page on which each member of the class will post writings, questions, comments, etc. Your poetry will be submitted to the group each week and critiqued by the instructor and your classmates. All critiques will be conducted in a friendly and helpful manner.

About Your Instructor: Writer, Editor, Publisher ~ Donna Baier Stein’s poetry and prose have appeared in Virginia Quarterly Review, Kansas Quarterly, Prairie Schooner, Washingtonian, and many other journals and anthologies. Her story collection Great Drawing Board of the Sky was a Finalist in the Iowa Fiction Awards; her novel Fortune received the PEN/New England Discovery Award and is now represented by William Morris Endeavor. Donna was a founding editor of Bellevue Literary Review, and currently is the Editor and Publisher of Tiferet: A Journal of Spiritual Literature. Her awards include a Scholarship from Bread Loaf Writers Conference, two awards from the Poetry Societies of Virginia and New Hampshire, a Fellowship from Johns Hopkins University, a fellowship from the New Jersey Council on the Arts, and individual fiction and poetry prizes from various journals and anthologies. In the nonfiction department, Donna has been a freelance direct marketing copywriter since 1980, writing for clients that include Smithsonian, Time, The Nature Conservancy, World Wildlife Fund, and many others. She created and presents seminars on copywriting for the Direct Marketing Association and has taught copywriting and writing at universities, corporations, and clubs. Her two nonfiction books on copywriting are published by McGraw Hill and Thomson Shore. She was also named Direct Marketer of the Year by the New England Direct Marketing Association in 2004. The fee for this course is $50.00 for Tiferet Patrons and $79.00 for Non-Patron members. Your registration fee covers four weeks which includes an online facebook private group. It is important to note that in registering you are committing to the full four weeks. All fees are non-refundable.
